Government House celebrations - 17 March 2021

On the afternoon of Wednesday the 17th of March, Community Networks Wellington was hosted by Her Excellency The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy and Sir David Gascoigne at the Government House. This event thanked community and social services who have worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has been extraordinary times for the social service communities of Wellington as we have navigated through the pandemic.

CNW Co-Chair Julia Hennessy explained at the event that “the numbers of people we assisted during the lockdown and the difference of having connected, caring communities working collaboratively through a time of uncertainty has had a profound impact on the wellbeing of our whanau and community.”

Dame Patsy Reddy spoke with an absolute appreciation for the work we have done and how, without our efforts, the Wellington community would be in a much worse position than we are in today. The people of Wellington have received support and have experienced care by our organisations with a genuine love for people.

It was a real sense of pride that we were able to gather at the Government House and celebrate our community. Thank you, Government House, for hosting us and providing a lovely afternoon tea in appreciation for social services during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Thank you, CNW members, for your commitment to Aotearoa’s most vulnerable people as we move forward positively out of the pandemic.
