Kirsty has been the Director of the Wellington Night Shelter since October 2016.
Even as a child, she was appalled that people lived on the street and started doing outreach work with young homeless people when in her early 20s.
In the 20 years since, she has worked in the homelessness, youth, mental health, disability, sexual violence and elder care sectors. Social justice and improving how we look after the most vulnerable people in our society is something she is very passionate about. In addition to working directly in service delivery organisations, she also has extensive experience of working as an independent consultant and training facilitator and has an MBA.
Her governance experience includes 5 years as a Trustee and then Chair, for the Wellington Sexual Abuse Help Foundation.
In her spare time she travels as much as she can, otherwise you can find her walking her dogs, reading, playing roller derby, skiing, scuba diving or playing on the Xbox.
