Alex Bengree
Alex (Ngāti Porou) is the Kaiārahi/Project Coordinator at Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley. She has been working with Wellington community groups in this role for the last three years, as well as maintaining the centre’s connection to pro-bono legal partners. She is also a facilitator for the Parenting Through Separation course in partnership with Family Works. Prior to her current role, she volunteered as a kaiāwhina from 2015, and provided administrative support for two years.
Alex has a background in governance, community connections, and youth advocacy from her experience on the Hutt City Youth Council, and working closely with council to ensure better outcomes for rangatahi in her hometown of Te Awakairangi/Lower Hutt. Outside of her mahi, Alex is studying law part time. She is extremely passionate about mental health awareness and support, and advocates for emotional capability as a key skill for everyday life. She also has a passion for animal welfare, music and te ao Māori – especially learning about the maramataka and astronomy. |
